Yes, I am a classical musician but I LOVE rock 'n roll - and I love Tommy Shaw from STYX!  They played here a couple of years ago, in a small club, and photos were allowed.  Needless to say I was down front and got some awesome photos - one of which I am not turning into a portrait of him - good subject to practice on!!!  

First I did a grid on my canvas so I could keep up with where everything needed to fit.  When I don't do that, then I tend to have my subject end up not exactly where I wanted it!!!  And in this portrait, and I guess all portraits - haven't done any before so I assume this is the most important, the eyes are the focus - he has beautiful eyes - so, if I couldn't nail that, then no need to go any further. 

Once you get the eye sockets and eyes lined up - go for it!

And here's the almost finished version.  For his fly away hair I had to use a number 1 brush - and thew it away after 1 did one side!!

Hope to have him all finished soon and in my music room - unless I sell him, of course!!
