How would one begin to select their favorite painting of all the paintings they have completed? This was presented to me in a 24 day challenge that I will be blogging on  for the next few days. The prompt was that it could be your most recent painting, the most challenging painting you completed, or one you just particularly liked. I selected "Guitarman"  for these reasons: it was a challenge to create, it was a favorite subject of mine - which is rock guitar players, and it was of one of my personal favorite guitar players in one of my favorite bands.  A lot of people asked me why I left so much blank space around him and on one side of the painting. My explanation was, as a fan, watching a concert, I am mesmerized, listening to this particular guitarist play, and all I could see was him. Nothing else on the stage mattered at this moment, just him. You can see how hard he is concentrating in the painting. Being a musician myself, I totally understand. He was also 'in the moment' performing for us. It didn’t hurt that this painting also won some awards, and was in some major shows throughout the United States. And it was a really hard for me to let go when it  sold because I had worked so hard on it and it meant so much to me. But the joy in having someone else love it as much as I did made it much easier for me to let it go and see it in its new home! So I give you "Guitarman', my favorite painting in my career - so far!
