Painting Steve Vai and trying to capture the passion he feels when performing was my goal on this painting.
Steve Vai is one of the best musician and guitarists I have ever heard - and I have traveled the country to many states to hear him play in person. I loved this particular setting with the green light like fog lighting him from behind. It's kind of weird being at the front of the stage in the audience, and yet we are below the musicians so that we are looking up. That creates the foreshortened right hand which was challenging to paint! Can't wait to hear him play again!
