Pat Wattam » Nesting

This painting was juried into the Brush with Burden exhibit for 2013 as well as the First NOAPS (National Oil and Acrylic Painters' Society)International on line art show. Last spring (2012) I took a photography class at the Burden center and had free reign of the grounds to take photos and paint.  I really enjoyed painting the geese because I loved the look on this female's face - so sweet -as she appeared to be nesting and the male was protecting her.  They looked like a little family.  They were both watching a commotion of other geese on the pond - the male very alert!  My goal in this painting was to really highlight her with the way I painted he light on her chest, and to use the setting to convey a feeling of peacefullness.
